My paintings embrace everyday life.
Because I
live a quiet and simple life, I am drawn to scenes of great activity filled
with the hustle and bustle of everyday. I see art everywhere in common
places such as street signs, bikers, buildings, automobiles. My faith in
Christ is strong and because I believe that He has blessed me with this
gift—seeing art — I feel compelled to use it.
While I
am painting, I often “think” a glimpse of the next moment beyond the
present. The one that could happen beyond the scene on which I am
working. It seems to me the painting is not stationery, but in waiting
for that instant the scene can move on to the next moment beyond the
present. This in an intriguing experience played out in my mind every
time I look at my completed paintings. I invite viewers not only to see
my paintings but to take time to feel these possibilities. Perhaps this
is truly what is meant when someone says a painting speaks to him or her.
