With the Covid-19 Pandemic requiring cancellation of all social art activities, like visits to art museums, participation in local art exhibit/competitions, or even monthly art group membership meetings, Society of West-Coast Artists - San Joaquin Valley Chapter president, Jesus Sepulveda, has taken it upon himself to keep art activities rolling.
In an attempt to lift the spirits of artists (and art enthusiasts) everywhere, Jesus has brought about the creation of the "Art Exhibit Page" (AEP), a Facebook page created to mount virtual online art exhibits. Participating artists are called upon to submit images of their work to the AEP. Once an exhibit, in its entirety, is posted, the Facebook public will be called upon to place votes for their favorite pieces, in predetermined categories, through "Liking" their choices with a "thumbs up" or "happy face."
At the end of each exhibit, "Likes" will be tabulated and "Peoples Choice" awards determined for each category.
The call for Artists Entry for the first exhibit, simply titled, "1st SWA Exhibit," are currently underway and will close on April 13, 2020. Shortly after the Call for Entry closing date, the work will be posted and ready for voting to begin.
The "Art Exhibit Page" Facebook page can be accessed at: fb.me/art.exhibit.page www.facebook.com/art.exhibit.page or by doing a Facebook search for "Art Exhibit Page"
Information about participating in exhibits can be obtained on the Art Exhibit Page
"Like" the page to be informed of Art Exhibit Page activities
SWA-SJVC Participation in 68th Annual SWA Membership Exhibit
San Joaquin Valley Chapter participation in our big annual membership exhibit this year was alarmingly light, with only a handful of members submitting entries. That said, our chapter was honored by the judges with 2 of the top exhibit awards shown below. Thanks to all who submitted and congratulations to those who's work was accepted and those who received awards.

Former SWA President, Dennis Lewis, Passed Away Early the Morning
Monday, September 18, 2017 - Bill Davis (Trowzers Akimbo)
He left this world early this morning, at home, surrounded by his family, the end of a courageous, multi-year battle with cancer. Dennis is survived by his wife Sheryl, 3 children, Christopher, Nathanial and Christina and several beautiful grandchildren (4?).
A master painter, teacher and lecturer, Dennis has been a dear friend for over 50 years. For those of you who were privileged to call Dennis friend or to have even experienced one of his demos, you know he was also quite the entertainer and presented stories in a way that would have you in stitches.
This sweet man always made time to share his vast accumulated painting knowledge with anyone who requested it.
Dennis worked for many years as an illustrator, creating images and designs for countless album covers and movie posters, before turning to fine art. Several of his works, commissioned by the Air Force, hang in the Pentagon.
I've attached a couple of my favorite paintings from Dennis' vast portfolio of works. "Rose of Sharon," features his wife, artist, Sheryl Lewis and "Hair," (an afro growing challenge to his son).
He will be missed, tremendously!
I love you, Bud!
